Last night I went to a meeting of the Sydney Mobile App Monetisation Meetup group. It was held at the Protein 1 shared workspace in Surry Hills, Sydney. The room was overflowing with people and kudos to Protein 1 for hosting what was a very good event. Many present had great sounding apps or app ideas. Apparently the group meets monthly and I can recommend you get along to one if apps creation is your thing.
Last evening 3 mobile marketing firms talked about their experiences. They all spoke well and were worth listening to. Rob Marston, founder of Zues Unwired, ran a short video of a brilliant marketing campaign called 'Back to Vinyl - The Office Turntable'. Check it out.
There was also a lot of talk about the Apple App Store that was interesting - but only tangentially for Six Degrees as we have side-stepped the whole app idea and developed Bridger as a pure html 5/ccs 3.1 browser-based front end. That could change in the future, especially if the App Store can drive more sales.
