It's been blogged about before but I can't resist repeating it. A TED talk from a year ago that is inspirational - dare I say mind blowing?
JoAnn Kuchera-Morin demos the AlloSphere, a new way to see, hear and interpret scientific data. Dive into the brain, feel electron spin, hear the music of the elements ... and detect previously unseen patterns that could lead to new discoveries.
Composer JoAnn Kuchera-Morin is the director of the Center for Research in Electronic Art Technology (CREATE) at UC Santa Barbara.

Thought-provoking!
I wonder what the journey through the Allosphere will be like if we loaded in retail market-basket data. Will product affinities, cannibalization, variety-seeking etc. become visible as if by magic? The old Arthur C. Clarke quote comes to mind - you know which one!
